Updated Series II Desk Design New For 2010!

We have now upgraded all of our Rolltop Desk line to the new "Series II" edge style found on last year's updated Executive Racks, RollRacks, Classic Racks & USAVID Podiums. Architects, Consultants and Designers have been requesting this new, contemporary look throughout our line and it is now shipping! The new Series II desks provide easier design integration with each other and all the HSA Racks & USAVID Designs. Plus, it gives the ability to design with optional and exotic wood species veneers or special purpose high pressure laminate surfaces to meet any design and aesthetic criteria (call for quotes!). New electronic specification sheets are being developed as well as a new catalog so feel free to call or email with any specific questions. As a note, all internal dimensions are either the same or even slightly larger with this new Series II upgrade. Watch for more information to follow!

NEWS UPDATE JULY 16, 2010 - we are continuously updating our Product Gallery page with photos of the new Series-II Rolltop Desks and new dimensional photos along with new products - keep checking back!!

Photos above show black arrow pointing at the old style desk side panel edge trim. New Series II desk design has clean, contemporary edges all the way around. The old style desks had a similar "Series II" type edge only on the Upper GlideOut Rack Bays and on the Desk's Top as pointed out by the red arrows, but now this new look is carried through the entire desk design and through our complete desk and rack line. Photo on right shows our new 2010 High Rise Extended Series II (HREXT-II) rolltop desk with both of it's Rolltop Tambours opened to show worksurface, Upper GlideOut Rack Bays and the 10 Space Undermounted Rack.

HSA's Booth at InfoCOMM 2009 -
InfoComm 2009
We had a great show at InfoCOMM09 and thank all of you for visiting our booth to see some of the new products and designs we're working on! Our "Concept Desk" generated a lot of interest. We decided to bring a desk to the Expo which we custom designed to includ lots of design features that many folks weren't aware that we even did! The desk featured extruded aluminum rolltop tambour doors (a project in development for release later in the year for custom applications), extra heavy duty sidewalls, WilsonArt Heavy Duty High Pressure Laminate table surfaces and beautiful bookmatched veneers in American White Maple finished in  water-clear, waterborne acrylic lacquer. Our USAVID Podium featured a replaceable engraved wood medallion for school or corporate identity and was produced in Natural Cherry. Thanks again for stopping by and be sure to keep in touch on all our new developments!

May 2009 - New Spec Sheet Set Available for Dealers and Consultants - Email HSA for our newly updated interim release dated 042709. This new PDF spec sheet set contains our latest revisions to our entire rack line and the USAVID Presentation Desk/Podium System.

November 2008 - We have finished mailing out our redeigned and updated catalogs to our manufacturer's sales reps and our dealers! The new catalogs feature our resdesigned rack line and new USAVID presentation desk/podium system.
Additional Catalog Information:
Page 2 indicates the left-to-right dimension of our Model SXEXT as 69.625”. Although within our spec sheet tolerances, the correct dimension should read 69.750” - a difference of plus 1/8”.

All (non-Desktop) desks feature under-table braces as seen on pages 5 & 6 with our Rolltop Custom photos.

On page 10, the INSXT (Inspire Super Extended) drawing shows no front-to-back dimension. It should read 39.125”. All desk “families” share certain dimensions. For example, any desk with “Standard” in its name will be 34” front-to-back externally while any with “Extended” will be 39.125”

The photo representations in this print run of catalog of our standard stain colors are a pretty good average but both wood and their photos can vary quite a bit. The colors Fruitwood and Walnut, in particular, printed more "red" than normal. The rear photo of the Inspire Super Extended on page 10 is closer to the average Walnut color. Fruitwood is a lighter variation.

August 2008 - Call or email if you need detail to specify or order any of our newly redesigned Classic Racks, RollRacks, Slant RollRacks and PR's!. New catalogs and spec sheets are in the works!

June 23, 2008 - BACK FROM InfoCOMM 2008! What a Great Show We Had - Thanks to YOU!!! Being able to talk to you all in person was wonderful and we really appreciated all the positive feedback we received! Spec sheets, pricing and updated catalogs will all be available in the coming weeks. Thanks So Much Again!

New, Wider Rolltop Tambours

HSA is phasing in a new, wider tambour (rolltop mechanism) for all of our rolltop desks and racks. The individual slats in the rolltop tambour are over 50% wider than before creating a stronger, more resiliant tambour for better security, easier operation and better overall appearance. These new rolltop tambours will span and lay flatter than before and, with their wider profile, reveal more wood grain patterns for a very pleasing appearance. A Standard Rolltop with the new wider rolltop tambour is pictured in the two photos below (click images for enlarged view):

Fall 2005

New Casters for entire HSA line!

We have completed the process of changing the casters both on our racks and the desk RollBases. The platform of the Rollbase is identical whether it is the standard or heavy-duty version. The difference is always in the choice of casters themselves and we have upgraded  both  the standard and heavy-duty casters.

The New Standard Duty Caster is known as a "business machine" caster and uses a single heavy, wide wheel (non-locking) and a true ball-bearing top race and top plate. It actually has the same rugged plate bolt pattern as the larger heavy-duty caster. The New Heavy Duty Caster has a larger top bearing race than it's predecessor and a guarded race for the wheel axle. Additionally, its locking mechanism not only locks the wheel from turning but also locks the actual direction position of the wheel (the wheel can't pivot on its bearing axis).

Both of these casters are a significant improvement in ruggedness, load-bearing and "roll-ability" from the earlier versions.
Three CastersRollbase
Here's a photo of the original standard caster (first on the left) alongside the two new ones for comparisons. The second photo shows a closeup of a RollBase using the New Standard Caster (nicely unobtrusive). The original brass-hooded twinwheel is 2.875" high, the new "business machine" caster is a tiny bit lower at 2.75" high and the new heavy-duty caster is 5" high (be sure to add .75" to overall height to account for the thickness of the RollBase for products requiring a RollBase which then gives you an overall height increase of 3.50" for standard RollBases and 5.75" for heavy-duty RollBases). You can easily see the much more robust build of our two new casters! At HSA we take every opportunity to develope better products, better options and bring better value to our loyal and much appreciated customers!

Summer 2005

Inspire Series Improvements!

In July 2005 we completed switching the Inspire Standard, Inspire Extended and Inspire Super Extended to separate desk and rack combinations as we had done long ago with the Inspire High Rise Extended desk/Rack combination. See the Photo Gallery pages showing the extra 1 inch width (2 inches on the Inspire Super Extended) resulting from the extra wall. Here are a few feature highlights:

Easier Setup - With the desk and rack separate, you can more easily transport and handle the furniture during placement and installation.
Easier Placement Decisions - Rack can be placed either on the right or left hand side as realtime conditions require. Additional racks can be placed on the opposite side or next to the first rack. A rack could also be spaced away from the desk or angled inward for easier operation.
More Useable Space - We have been able to move the rack rail forward and change the location of the rear of the rolltop tambour to create more easily accessible space inside the racks.
Pricing Benefits - In addition to these improvements, the Inspire Desks cost less than their individual components for even better value.
Another new feature is that we now put the round wiring grommets on both sides of the desk and racks as the normal configuration. This allows more freedom on the wiring aspect - even at the last minute. If a dealer or their customer does not want the grommets on a particular side of an Inspire Desk/Rack for whatever reason, that information and request needs to be on the dealer's faxed-in purchase order and we'll be happy to accommodate them.
Also, Inspire Desks and Racks are bolted together if purchased with a RollBase. Your dealer can also specify at time of order if you'd like the Inspire desk and rack bolted together even if it doesn't have a RollBase.

Innovation and improvement is an ongoing commitment at HSA and we will keep you informed and involved in the weeks and months ahead!
