What it is

Interlocking Tambour Construction

All HSA rolltop tambours - anodized aluminum, powder coated aluminum and powder coated galvanized steel alike - are interlocking, heavy-duty panels. The tambours interlock with one another as the door rolls closed, so the closed rolltop forms a continuous, rigid shield over the equipment bay rather than a set of separate slats.

Interlocking tambours are the reason an HSA rolltop can be locked at all: the closed door presents one continuous surface, and it works together with the Extra Thick Sidewall option (ETS), the Institutional Lock System (ILS) or the digital programmable e-locks to raise the level of security for high-value or restricted equipment.

Powder coated tambours carry a low-reflectance matte finish. In auditoriums, classrooms, worship spaces and other rooms where light control matters, that finish keeps the door from throwing glare toward the audience or the camera - the "blackout" finish. Powder coated tambours are also lighter and easier to move than galvanized steel while keeping the same strength and security.

Perforated tambours add ventilation to the same construction: the equipment bay can stay closed and locked while the equipment inside keeps running, because cool air passes through the perforations in the front tambours.
